Advanced Aerospace Materials Major

1. Introduction

The Aerospace Materials Science major focuses on the research and development of high-performance materials used in the aerospace and aviation fields. The program educates students on the development and application of advanced composite materials, ultra-lightweight alloys, and smart materials. Through the study of lightweight materials, high-temperature superalloys, and composite materials applied in the latest aerospace technologies, the program aims to enhance energy efficiency and safety in the aerospace industry. It also emphasizes the development of materials capable of withstanding the extreme conditions in space, supporting the advancement of space exploration and satellite technologies. The curriculum is designed to meet the demands of the industry, incorporating practical research and education. Students have opportunities to visit domestic and international companies to understand the required skills, ensuring the development of practical skills needed for immediate industry integration.

2. Curriculum Overview

Students in the Aerospace Materials Science major engage in the design and experimental analysis of materials used in aerospace applications, focusing on the mechanical, chemical, and thermal properties to optimize these materials. Furthermore, this major emphasizes the study of advanced materials, including high-performance aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, and high-temperature resistant steels, as well as composite materials. These materials are applied broadly, from airframe structures to engine components. By understanding the integration and application of these advanced materials, students learn to use computer modeling and simulation technologies to design optimal aerospace structures. This is directly applicable to the design and development of complex aerospace systems. Through advanced simulation tools and experimental techniques, students can predict material performance and behavior in actual aerospace and aviation applications.
